What We Believe
The people of Morning Star Lutheran Church believe in the One True God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that everything God says in His Word, the Bible, is true. We believe in God’s promise that He will give us the free gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus. We believe that that Jesus Christ is the son of God who became human. He lived a perfect life and suffered on the Cross to pay the penalty for our sins. He rose from the dead after three days and then ascended into Heaven.
As Lutherans we rely on Martin Luther’s writings to provide us with our three core teachings:
God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save sinners.
By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.
The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word and the only source of divinely revealed knowledge. The Bible reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.
